Sidekick
An AI-powered academic assistant that helps students spend more time learning and less time organizing their schoolwork.
I’m building Sidekick as a central source of truth for students, designed to bring together course materials, assignments, deadlines, grades, and announcements from different platforms. It is designed to use AI to track academic progress, identify learning gaps, and provide personalized study support. The goal is to remove the hassle of managing multiple class portals and give students one place to understand what needs their attention and what to learn next.
Why I’m building it
Keeping up with a class often means piecing together information from a learning portal, email, calendars, and separate assignment tools. I want that scattered information to become useful context for an assistant that helps a student plan their work, study the material, and pick up where they left off.
The direction
- One academic workspace. Bring course information and commitments together so students can see what is due, what has changed, and what matters next.
- Study support with context. Use course materials and saved study progress to guide practice, surface gaps, and adapt support to the student.
- Continuity between sessions. Remember what a student worked on and the help they received, so the next study session can build on it.
Current stage
Sidekick is the current working name for the project previously called School Bridge Community. The community foundation is a prototype with separate student workspaces, manual course setup, course-text and calendar imports, and saved study handoffs. Bringing all platforms together and providing the full AI experience described above remain development goals.
The foundation uses Cloudflare Workers and SQLite Durable Objects, with account-scoped data, revision checks for reliable saves, and export and deletion controls.
